1913: Frank A Vanderlip Sr., president of the National Bank of New York purchases 16,000 acre Rancho de los Palos Verdes.
1916: Mr. Vanderlip visits the Peninsula for the first time and describes his vision for a Master Planned Development resembling the coastline of the Sorrentine Peninsula and the Amalfi Drive of Italy.
1921: 3,225 acres of development known as The Palos Verdes Project comprises of four districts of Palos Verdes Estates. The districts are known as Malaga Cove, Lunada Bay, Valmonte and Miraleste.
1923: The Palos Verdes Project was transferred to the terms and provisions of a trust indenture which provided for the establishment of the Palos Verdes Homes Association & Art Jury to ensure and oversee the Mediterranean architectural integrity of our community.
1924: First home built in Miraleste on Via Colinita
1929: Miraleste First School Built on Via Canada
1931: The Miraleste Association Social Club Established
1938: Miraleste Homes Association Established
1939: a staggering tax debt falls on the Palos Verdes Homes Association due to the great depression. In order to wipe out the debt out, the City of Palos Verdes Estates is incorporated. The Miraleste community could not be included since it was 7.5 miles away and not in contiguous territory.
1940: The Miraleste Parks & Recreation district is established
1947: Miraleste Fire Station
1968: Miraleste High School and Library
1973: Miraleste incorporated into the city of Rancho Palos Verdes
